Danny DeVito Day is New Jersey's newest holiday. How will you celebrate?
All hail Danny DeVito, king of Asbury Park (sorry, Springsteen and Bon Jovi, but you've gotten more than your fair share). The New York Times reports that on Saturday, at the Asbury Park Music & Film Festival, Gov. Phil Murphy is set to announce that the veteran actor, a Monmouth County native, will get his own state day. The gesture is not without significance -- the actor will become the first person from Asbury Park to get their own day.

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Marching To $245M+ Opening, Second Best-Ever Behind ‘Force Awakens’
Saturday AM: Industry estimates have Disney/Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War at $106.7M (including that $39M Thursday night) and $245.6M over three days, which would put the pic second behind the Star Wars: Force Awakens record opening of $247.9M. Numbers are much higher than what we saw last night, with a $237M start. Some even believe that Infinity War could beat Force Awakens ($247.9M), but a lot of that will depend on today’s momentum.

Verne Troyer Dead at 49
Verne Troyer -- best known for playing Mini-Me in the 'Austin Powers' comedies, and for being one of the shortest men in the world -- has died. Verne died Saturday, according to a statement from his family. We'd been told he was on some form of life support since being taken to the hospital earlier this month after cops got a report he was drunk and suicidal, and was treated for possible alcohol poisoning. Verne's family says during the recent adversity, "he was baptized while surrounded by his family."

In Puerto Rico, Stadium Lights Glow, Homes Do Not
The major league baseball games this week between the Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Indians here had dual goals: to affirm the Puerto Rican government’s position that the island was open for business again after the devastation of Hurricane Maria seven months ago, and to showcase this American territory’s unique relationship with baseball. And then lights across the island went out again.

How IBM quietly pushed out 20,000 older workers
Age discrimination can be very hard to prove. In a ProPublica feature that collected the stories of over 1,400 former IBM employees, it was estimated that a staggering 20,000 American employees ages 40 and over have been eliminated by the company. How does one of the country’s largest tech giants quietly push out this many older workers? Don’t we have laws to protect people at the end of their careers?

MLB’s Blister Problem Is Real
Less than two weeks after Opening Day, my Ringer MLB Show cohost Michael Baumann and I bypassed a wealth of potential podcast topics to do a segment about blisters. Dodgers starter Rich Hill, who’d signed a three-year, $48 million deal to stay in Los Angeles in December, had suffered a recurrence of his stubborn blister problems from 2016, leaving his value to the team in doubt. His chronic case of blisters seemed so serious that speaking to just one dermatologist on the podcast wouldn’t do, so Michael and I talked to two dermatologists about treatments Hill could try.

The Yankees sent out an important anti-bullying message after a young fan's social media post
When used for good, social media can be a very powerful tool for helping others. Recently, a woman named Jenn Slater posted on Facebook about her daughter, Cassidy, and her issues with being bullied at her middle school. It's tough to watch, but important just the same. Cassidy and her mom live in Scranton, Pa., near the home of the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Cassidy's mother's post has gained steam since it was shared two weeks ago, racking up a few hundred thousand views ... and, apparently, catching the attention of the Yankees themselves.
