Authors, once they’ve managed to complete their book, which often takes years, often want the published version within a few months of the time they turn it over to the publisher. Readers, anticipating a new volume of their favorite author’s work or wanting the latest information on some hot-breaking story, often want a book as soon as they hear about it, even though it might have just hit the publisher’s desk. Blog and websites are updated frequently. Newspapers generally come out once a day. How do they manage to publish work so quickly, while it often takes a scholarly book publisher a year?
