From Oscar-winning director Clint Eastwood comes Warner Bros. Pictures’ drama “Sully,” starring Oscar winner Tom Hanks (“Bridge of Spies,” “Forrest Gump”) as Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger. On January 15, 2009, the world witnessed the “Miracle on the Hudson” when Captain “Sully” Sullenberger glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.

What is your favourite lesser known TV show?

I'll start

Trapped - It's an Icelandic crime show...The show is in Icelandic but there are English subs available. Personally I love the music choice in this show and the show keeps on getting more and more exiting as more plots are added to the show. It's a 10 episode series and really worth watching.

‘Game Of Thrones’ Ratings Hit Series High With Season 6 Finale
Game of Thrones’ Season 6 finale had revenge, hollowed monarchies, a lot of death, parentage revelations and new alliances packing its nearly 70-minute run on June 26. The David Benioff and D.B. Weiss written “The Winds of Winter” episode also had 8.89 million viewers – an all-time high for the HBO series. With this season having sped ahead of the George R.R. Martin books on which the blockbuster series has been based, Sunday’s finale was up 16% over the war heavy “Battle of the Bastards” episode of June 19. The Miguel Sapochnik directed Season 6 ender was also up 10% from the David Nutter...

Has Physics Gotten Something Really Important Really Wrong?
It's possible that string theory or the multiverse may find strong links with data, but a recent book provides a view of what a truly different philosophical approach would look like. Adam Frank reports that Lee Smolin and Roberto Unger pull no punches in their sense that the lack of empirical data has led the field astray.

Breathless and Unexplainable Dread: On This Summer's Horror Fiction
If you listen very closely, you can hear it even now: the sound of the human heart beating. Often, in particularly good horror fiction, this sound is the thing that resonates most, the sound of life springing forth from the void of confusion and danger around it. The best horror fiction accounts for the heart’s profound sensitivity — its vulnerability to alarm and suspense — and the best horror writers understand that the heart, as much as the mind, is able to gauge and comprehend the forces, processes, shadows, and shapes of fear.

Horror Movie VHS Box Art vs Reality
Back in the good old day off film, we used to have to go to a video store in order to pick a film to rent. The only way we could judge a film was by its cover, and not every film was honest with it’s representation of its films content. The VHS box art was often something that would catch your eye, but you always found yourself skeptical of its dramatic depiction of the films events. I wanted to look at a random selection of box art, and find the good and bad illustrations that were used to sell us films. Box Art vs Reality.

Remember When AOL Wrote a How-to Internet Book?
If you are of a certain age, you remember AOL internet. It was, for a brief period in the late ’90s and early aughts, a popular monthly subscription service that allowed you to get online via a noisy dial-up connection. The company first spread its seed with the help of free-trial CDs that you could pop into your computer for a test drive. And if you paid a monthly fee, you were inducted into the AOL universe with an email address, an Instant Messenger account, and the ability to ask someone’s a/s/l in any shady chat room you wanted.

Anton Chekhov: A Post-Post-Modernist Way Ahead of His Time
Peter Constantine has been translating Anton Chekhov for over 20 years, bringing into English more than a hundred stories that are lesser-known, unknown, or untranslated. He has been asking himself, What is Chekhovian? We hear of Chekhovian situations, Chekhovian despair, Chekhovian resolutions. But there is much more to Chekhov’s work than the idea of something “dragging and hopelessly complicated."
