Eggers’ look at man who kept Golden Gate Bridge orange

The scale of the Golden Gate Bridge bridge and its environment are breathtaking, but it’s the color that really steals the show. Originally applied as a primer, International Orange became the Golden Gate Bridge’s permanent color only after Irving Morrow, one of the bridge’s designers, led a campaign to save it from being painted over. The story of his campaign and the bridge’s color is the subject of the new book written by Dave Eggers and illustrated by Tucker Nichols.
