Netflix Reaches Tipping Point As Originals Now Outpace Acquired Titles

Illustrating the strategy Netflix executives have long articulated — and pointing to a wider gap between the company and its rivals — a new report shows that for the first time most new releases coming to the platform are originals. Among all releases available in the U.S. that went live during the year leading up to December 2018, 51% were originals, as opposed to programs or films that had been acquired, according to a report by UK-based research firm Ampere Analysis. That share is more than double the 25% recorded in December 2016.

Disney Reportedly Taking Star Wars License from EA and Giving It to Lucasfilm Games

Fans recently jumped for joy when reports came in about Disney seemingly reviving Lucasfilm Games, which a lot of fans know as LucasArts. Many of us were hoping it would lead to a number of cool new games like Monkey Island or even Knights of the Old Republic but it looks like they might just be brought back to manage Star Wars games. However, there’s a good chance that it was also brought back so that EA won’t have the license anymore.
