Ash vs. Evil Dead star Ray Santiago built a career by defying racist stereotypes
When Ray Santiago was a teenager, an acting coach gave him one of those out-of-the-blue, kinda-sorta compliments that doesn't so much warm the heart as freeze the brain. "He said, 'You could play Ben Stiller's half-Latino son, if there was a movie for that,'" Santiago recalls, laughing. "And, I was like, 'Wait, what?!'"

'Stranger Things': How Two Brothers Created Summer's Biggest TV Hit
The North Carolina–bred brothers were born in 1984 — a year after the show's setting — and, while they have murky recollections of Cold War anxiety, they grew up playing Magic: The Gathering more than Dungeons & Dragons. "We were like, 'Shit, the kids in the show can't be playing Magic: The Gathering; it hasn't been invented yet,'" Matt says with a laugh. "My brother and I played D&D. Chicken farms fueled a massive public health crisis—while the government turned a blind eye
Antibiotic-resistant infections—everything from gastrointestinal illnesses to recurring urinary tract infections and staph—are among the most menacing issues in public health today, sickening 2 million people a year and killing at least 23,000, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. So perhaps it’s not surprising that government has begun to take steps to limit antibiotics in animal agriculture, where many of these infections arise, before they wreak further havoc in humans.

Andrea Dovizioso takes MotoGP title fight to the wire with Malaysian victory
Andrea Dovizioso won a rain-hit Malaysian Grand Prix on Sunday to keep the MotoGP title race alive as Marc Marquez's coronation was delayed with a fourth place finish. Italian Dovizioso overtook team mate Jorge Lorenzo with four laps remaining to claim his sixth win of the campaign at Sepang circuit and give Ducati a 1-2 finish for the first time this year. Johann Zarco grabbed third on his non-works Yamaha, nursing a soft rear tyre to the finish, frustrating Marquez's hopes of sealing his fourth MotoGP title with a race to spare.

The Deuce wraps up an impressive first season
The acclaimed HBO series about the rise of the porn industry in 1970s Times Square wraps up tonight, and we suspect our TV editor, Erik Adams, will be sorry to see it go. In $25 billion video game industry, voice actors face broken vocal cords and low pay
She woke up with a tickle in her throat. This was worrying for Ashly Burch, who, at 27, is a rising star in the small world of voice actors, best known for her work in video games. She knew actors who had blown out their voices in the studio. She’d come close herself. So leaving her house that morning Burch sipped a soothing mix of chai tea and pea milk. “It’s nondairy,” she said. “Dairy creates mucus, and that’s not a good sound.”

Every Single UK Number 1 Single (1980-2009)
Hard to believe that after Wham disbanded, but George Michael never had a number one in the UK as a solo artist – all his previous trips to the top had been duets. That all changed this year as he bought out his third album Older, arguably his strongest record in his career with a good mixture of strong up-tempo tracks and ballads. Leading the way was Jesus to a Child, which competes strongly with Father Figure as the best of his best ballads.

Ranking: Every Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Episode from Worst to Best
It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly three decades since Marge first stepped out from behind that curtain to warn viewers about the spooky scenes they were about to witness. But that warning started a proud, hilarious tradition for The Simpsons, and 28 seasons later, the show has offered a triple-dose of tales to fright and delight featuring Our Favorite Family each and every year. The Treehouse of Horror Halloween specials allow The Simpsons to spoof classic movies, indulge in a little blood and guts, and have some macabre fun in a non-canon setting.

A new documentary claims Haribo gummy bears are made using slave labor in Brazil
Haribo gummy bears may be some of the most colorfully cheerful confections on the planet, but a new investigative documentary called "The Haribo Check" uncovers what may be a dark secret behind the making of these snacks. ARD — a German broadcasting station — aired the 45-minute documentary detailing what it found to be cruel labor and animal welfare practices behind the making of major ingredients in Haribo gummy bears. The investigation, which was part of a series called "Markencheck" ("Brand Check"), claims that the German candy company has become unwittingly dependent on modern-day slave labor in Brazil.

Where “The Walking Dead” Goes Wrong With Zombies
Rick Grimes is cornered. A walker shuffles toward him, thoughtless yet eager for flesh. Sweat drips through Grimes’ thick beard, grown in the hundreds of fearful days and nights since the dead started to roam the earth. He quickly reaches for his knife—a weapon he never used in his days as a cop—and sinks it straight into the ghoul’s forehead. This isn’t any specific scene from AMC’s The Walking Dead. It fits the bill for many of them. But is the human skull—zombified or not—really weak enough to yield to a knife?

The World Series' Most Heartbreaking Loss Turns 20
The moment was so perfect that, in hindsight, disaster was inevitable. While the Cleveland Indians had reached the World Series in ’95—their first appearance since 1954—they lost to the Braves in six often bitter games that left fans disgusted even decades later. (Doubt it? Google “1995 World Series strike zone.”) By 1997, star slugger/Halloween enthusiast Albert Belle was gone and the team entered the playoffs having won only 86 games, 13 less than the previous year.
